Sssnakes!
(Families, children 6 yrs. and up), noon-1:30pm. Through discussion and a walk learn about some of Huntley's scaly inhabitants. Canceled if rain. $6

Café Cattail
7-9:30pm. Welcome to Huntley Meadows' very own coffeehouse! Enjoy a relaxing evening applauding our community's talents. Musicians, dancers and poets are encouraged to share their arts with a nature theme. Sponsored by FOHMP. FREE

Sunday, July 11
Birding for Beginners
(12 yrs. and up), 8-11am. Interested in birding? We can get you started! Learn about the birds in the park and some basic identification skills. Program begins with an indoor discussion. Children ages 12 to 16 must be accompanied by an adult. $6

Art Opening - Kaleidimals
(Families), 2-4pm. Meet artist and photographer Marilyn Gaizband at this opening of her two month long show, and marvel at her unusual kaleidoscope animals manipulated by computer from photographs taken at the park and around the world. FREE

Saturday, July 17
Bat Watching
(Families), 8-9:30pm. The only mammals with true flight can find insect prey in complete darkness. Learn about the diversity and adaptations of these fascinating animals at a slide illustrated lecture. Then search twilight skies for bats on the wing. $6

Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25
Buglover's Paradise
(Families with children 4 yrs. and up), 10am-noon. The park is buzzing with insect activity - grasshoppers, butterflies, ladybugs and leafhoppers. Stop by our classroom for self-guided activities, a craft and videos. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Sponsored by FOHMP. $4/child

Saturday, August 7 and Saturday, August 21
Evening Wagon Rides
(Families, children 6 yrs. and up) Cool your heels on a warm summer evening by breezing along on a 90-minute tractor ride to the wetland and back. A naturalist will help you look for hunting bats and calling owls. Get off for a snack at the observation platform. Rides leave from the South King's Highway entrance. $6 Start times: 4:45pm, 6:45pm
